Airborne Museum
The Airborne Museum tells you the story of the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944. In doing so, the museum chooses to serve a broad audience, and keeping the story alive for future generations is an important objective. Not only the historical facts, but also the personal stories of those involved—military personnel and civilians—play a leading role.
The Arnhem 1944 Fellowship is a registered UK charity and international organization dedicated to preserving the history of the Battle of Arnhem and maintaining the bonds of friendship between the Dutch people and Allied veterans. Their purpose is to commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of those involved in the 1944 battle, support heritage preservation, record veteran experiences, and educate the public.
The Fellowship operates with an open membership, with both Dutch and British branches, working closely with institutions like the Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’ in Oosterbeek.
The Fellowship organises annual battlefield tours, commemorative walks, and social programs for members.
Research. Remembrance. Education. These are the three core values of The Dutch Polar Bears Foundation. Since our very first beginnings in 2015, we have dedicated ourselves to finding, researching, preserving, and telling the stories of the Second World War, specifically the stories of the 49th (West Riding) Infantry Division, particularly to younger generations. Oorlogsmuseum Niemandsland
As a regional museum, Oorlogsmuseum Niemandsland tells the historical and socio-cultural story surrounding the battles in the Betuwe. It caters to regional and (inter)national audiences seeking quality relaxation and/or a place of remembrance, in an era of increasing interest in personal historical experience and authenticity.
Airborne Tulip Memorials
Airborne Tulip Memorials is a project to plant maroon tulips in remembrance of the famous Airborne beret at Dutch schools, as a thank you to the flower children, and at Airborne related sites worldwide. This initiative was started by Mr. Darren Kaye in remembrance of his grandfather who jumped into the Netherlands in September 1944 as part of the Border Regiment, and who was taken POW. He never spoke of his experiences, but he will always be remembered.
