Commemoration at the Needle – Oosterbeek

During a short ceremony and wreath-laying, the municipality of Renkum commemorates the start of Operation Market Garden in the Airborne Region on September 17, 194.
This Airborne ceremony is the first commemoration as part of all the memorial activities surrounding the Battle of Arnhem.
The ‘Airborne Monument’ in Oosterbeek is a memorial column, crowned with a natural stone sculpture group of five men. A man representing freedom is surrounded by civilians and soldiers.
The monument is across the road from the Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’.
